Visa

sedakarakaya38 • 17 February 2024

I am writing from Türkiye. I am a physically disabled student with a 98% disability rate, and I have been accepted for a master's program at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Germany. I hold a green passport, and I have a guarantor for my national visa application.

However, I have some questions during the application process. As a patient with SMA type 2, I cannot walk (I am a constant user of a powered wheelchair), I cannot eat on my own, I cannot meet my toilet and bathing needs, and as a student who needs constant care 24/7 to meet my daily care needs, I need to go with my mother and brother. Do they also need a guarantor? Additionally, during the national visa application, I will designate my mother and brother as my helpers, what is the procedure for them to obtain visas with me? Can they also get a national visa with me?

Thank you in advance for your attention and assistance.

Sincerely,

Hello sedakarakaya38, thank you for reaching out to us. I will do some extra research on this question and get back to you. But yes, in general your carer will also need a guarantor, meaning that their livelihood must be covered. Their visa needs to be tied to a purpose I have not yet found a visa that they could apply for. This is something that you can also ask the embassy.
Have you already contacted the University international student desk and have asked if they are able to help you with this question? https://www.hhu.de/en/international/international-profile/international…
Finally, there are also a counseling center in Düsseldorf that might also be worth contacting: https://duesseldorf.paritaet-nrw.org/was-wir-machen/ergaenzende-unabhae…

Dear Yara Almunaizel,

Thank you so much for your prompt response and willingness to assist with my visa inquiry. I truly appreciate your efforts in helping me navigate through this process.

Your insights regarding the necessity of a guarantor for my carer and the potential challenges surrounding their visa application are duly noted. I will make sure to follow up with the embassy as you suggested to explore further options and clarify any uncertainties.

Additionally, thank you for providing valuable resources for seeking assistance. I will certainly reach out to the University's international student desk and explore the possibility of obtaining guidance from the counseling center in Düsseldorf. Your suggestions are immensely helpful and I'm grateful for your proactive support in this matter.

Once again, I want to express my gratitude for your assistance and for taking the time to address my concerns. Your dedication to helping students like me is truly commendable.
