I came from Ukraine with my girfriend.
We stayed in the Netherlands for a year,

but we could not stay there because the place really did not suit us.

Now we are in Germany.

We want to inquire if we can benefit from protection residency

(I am from Sudan and have been living in

I was study and I was working as fashion model

and I live in Ukraine for 10 years -

my girlfriend she’s  Ukraine)

We lived in Ukraine together,

and went out together.

Is a person in a relationship with a Ukrainian person allowed to benefit from protection?

Dear Abdelrahman Ali thank you for reaching out to us.
I am sorry to hear about your difficult situation. To give you a proper answer, I would like to ask you some questions:
- Where were you on 24.02.2022?
- Which residence permit were you holding in Ukraine?
- Did you already applied for protection in the Netherlands or might received a protection status?
Looking forward to you responses.

Abdelrahman Ali

I am from Sudan.
I have lived in Ukraine since 2013
. I studied computer engineering and worked as a fashion model.
I have never gone out since the day I entered.
I met my girlfriend(Ukrainian)
in 2020,
but at that time my paper expired.
ImEnte
Me and my girlfriend left the war on 28.02. 2022,
we arrived in the Netherlands after the war and we lived
until
August 28, 2023.
We left because I could not stay here, and we canceled our protection residency.
Me and my girlfriend
we moved f from Netherlands to Portugal to Spain to Belgium,
but we have not applied for any protection residency yet. In any country,
we were just exploring the situation on our own
until we arrived two days ago in Cologne.
We are sleeping on the street and in train stations and we do not know anyone and we are afraid that if we will apply for protection and not be accepted and we Will be separated from each others
.And we don’t have anything belong to Netherlands anymore
because we canceled. Protect decumant,
and we don't know anyone who we can ask,
I really hope you can help us, because we are truly lost.

Thank you for your clarification, Abdelrahman Ali
It seems like you are in a very special situation. It is highly recommended to reach out to a migration counselling to go through your situation in detail. There is the Cologne refugee council, who offers councelling at different locations: https://koelner-fluechtlingsrat.de/arbeitsbereiche/beratungsstellen
Also, our expert, [~2276], might can share a contact in Cologne with you or give some additional advice.
.
Please be aware that your situation is very special and since you already canceled a protection status in another EU country, you and your girlfriend might face some difficulties. Nevertheless, you should give it a try with additional support from a councelling center to make a well-informed decision. In general, in Germany unmarried couples who can proof their relationship, are eligible to receive a protection status. Additionally, your expired residence permit in Ukraine might can cause some challenges, too. You can find more information on our website: https://handbookgermany.de/en/ukraine-info?themes=residence-for-non-ukr…
Please let me know if you need any support finding a suitable counselling center. There are some more, provided by BAMF.
