Possibility of finding Ausbildung (Apprenticeship) while being outside of Germany

Ihsan • 17 August 2023

I started learning German for Ausbildung program. However, I came up with an article which stated that finding an Ausbildung from outside of the Germany is hard and there is a visa category that in order to find an Ausbildung you can apply for the visa but the requirement is one need to be under 25 years of age to be illegible for this visa otherwise you can't apply for it! In short, does it really make it impossible to find an Ausbildung  while not being present in Germany if it's not then how much percentage one can find Ausbildung while applying online? Thank you

Hello Ihsan,
thank you for reaching out to us. It's great that you have already started to learn German! Mostly, a German language certificate with at least B1 is required because all the courses and tests will be in German.
Indeed, to apply for a visa to search of an apprenticeship, you need to be under 25 years old. However, if you have signed a contract, you can apply for an apprenticeship visa. There is no age limitation, if you match all the requirements.
.
In Germany, most of the apprenticeship you can start with a school diploma. On our website, Handbook Germany, you can find more information: https://handbookgermany.de/en/vocational-training-dual
You have different options to look for an Ausbildung. Have a look at these websites to see if there is something suitable for you:
- You can look at Online Posting Websites, like https://de.indeed.com/, https://www.stepstone.de/jobs/ausbildung or https://www.azubi.de/ausbildungsplatz
You can enter the position and the preferred zip code you are wish to live.
-You can also try this website, which also informs about job application from abroad and also has job postings: https://www.bq-portal.de/en
-In case you already know companies you wish to work for, you can browse through their websites and look for open jobs.
Please make sure that your application documents are complete. In Germany this often is a cover letter and a CV. You can find more information here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/jobsearch-and-application
Unfortunately, I cannot tell how your chances will be. If you match the necessary requirements your chances are higher to be successful. Surely it can take patience until you get the right offer, so take your time for the applications and do not give up.
Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you for the info. That was a confusion for me and for some other people too because age limit is for Ausbildung search visa. Furthermore, I wanted to know if there is any need for block account or bank statement in case one get apprenticeship offer letter? So far I know that it's a paid training but I have heard that if one gets dual apprenticeship he doesn't need block account!

Dear Ihsan thanks for getting back.
In case in the contract of your apprenticeship provides you enough money to secure your livelihood, a monthly salary around 950€, there shouldn't be the necessity of a blocked account.
Please note that there is no age limitation for dual apprenticeships.
If you would like to share your current home country, I can look up the specific requirements you will need to apply for a visa.

Thank you for your patience and sharing your situation, Ihsan
I tried to find the checklist with the necessary documents to apply for a vocational training but unfortunately, the German embassy in uploaded the wrong one. I send an e-mail and ask them to upload the according one. You can find all the provided checklist on the website of the German embassy in Pakistan.
Furthermore, in Islamabad you can't book an appointment for that category "vocational training". However, the Germany consulate in Karachi provides appointment slots for vocational training. In case you have gathered all the necessary documents, you can book an appointment.
I will get back to you as soon as I receive feedback from the embassy. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Ihsan

You didn't mention in which country the embassy of Germany uploaded the wrong documents and how is that possible that they could have uploaded wrong one? Meanwhile, some agents from Afghanistan promise to get visa from Islamabad while you mentioned that I cannot get appointment in Islamabad. However, i just checked the consulate genral of Germany in Karachi but the appointment is not available.

Dear Ihsan my apologies. Since there is only the possibility to book a slot in Karachi, the consulate might uploaded an incorrect document. As I said, I reached out to them and ask to clarify.
As far as I could see there is no slot to book an appointment to apply for apprenticeship - is that possible for you? Please note, that you should be careful about agencies who can provide you embassy appointments. Surely, it is often frustrating because there are only less but the appointment booking itself, is free of charge.

My Nguyen_Community Managerin so how these people are going to Germany nowadays? I know some who cloud get even the study visas from Islamabad. and how one can get other types of visas lf all the doors are closed for people? This itself makes people choose illegal immigration.

No, dear Ihsan. I assume here is a huge misunderstanding.
You can apply for very different types of visa at the German embassy/consulate in Pakistan. In Islamabad they only review other applications than in Karachi and some can be applied at both locations. Please note that I didn't say that you cannot apply for all types of visa in Islamabad. Therefore, I never said, that you cannot apply for a study visa. You can apply for a study visa in Islamabad, but not a visa to start a vocational training - as you were seeking information for. As far as I can see, an application for vocational training is only possible in Karachi.
If you fulfill all the requirements for the visa you applied for, you will receive a valid visa.
I hope this clears things up. If something remains unclear, please let me know.

Ihsan

What I intend to say was that in Islamabad people from Afghanistan could received study visa and other types but in German Embassy's website in Kabul it mentioned that only family reunification visa can be processed in Islamabad and of you apply for appointment for other long term visa types either your registration will be rejected or you will not be allowed at the entrance that is the website says! Everything there in the website is in contradiction.

Dearr Ihsan I can understand the confusion. You have a very special situation. In general, people, who are holding a legal stay for at least 6 months in a country, which isn't their home country, are allowed to apply at the German embassy/consulate. I assumed this applies to you. Additionally, due to the current situation, you might also be able to apply in Islamabad. Unfortunately, since this isn't very clear, which rule to follow, I reached out to the embassy and the consulate to ask which of them will be responsible for your application. I will get back to you as soon as I have feedback.
