kachar • 18 April 2024

I want to get it education from Masterschool which is funded by Agentur für Arbeit and jobcentre.I told them that im working and soon to be unemployed, they said this offer is only for unemployed workers. When I said I want to resign my job because i want to study they said there is a 3 month penalty if i resign but i didn't understand what penalty is for.

I just want to know what can i do because no way I can afford education and even though if I get education I can't survive without working.

Hello kachar, thank you for reaching out to us. It is great that you are already informing yourself about the options that are out there if you are unemployed.
.
It is important to note: that if you resign from your current job, that you will not receive any unemployment benefits for the first three months. This is not the case if you are fired or your contract expires. So it might be a good idea to think about the risks and benefits if you resign. In general you can only benefit from the IT course offered by the "Arbeits Agentur" if you are unemployed. Please also register yourself as unemployed as soon as you decide to quit your job. This can easily be done online, otherwise you risk getting sanctioned from the agency
.
If you would like to continue your education you can think about applying for a student program. As a student you are able work up 20hours per week to be able to afford your living.

.
In general you will receive unemployment benefits if you have worked a job were you pay into the social insurance for more than 12months in the last 30months.
.
Maybe a so called "Aufhebungsvertrag" might also be an option to leave your job but not risk losing the unemployment benefits. Faire Integration Schleswig-Holstein are our experts on work related issues. Maybe they have some further tipps for you.
Best wishes
Yara
