There is currently a new draft under discussion, aiming to shorten the naturalization period, among other things. However, it is important to note that this is currently only a draft. It still needs to be approved by the Bundestag. This means that it may take some time before it comes into effect.

Before naturalization, you may already be eligible for a permanent residency (PR). The requirements are similar to those for naturalization but slightly less challenging.
