Bring my spouse to Germany from France

Sohail Miakhil • 9 January 2024

My question is, I have my spouse  in France but no children and she has 10 year document of France and I came to Germany recently and now the government has given me a house in Altenstadt. So I want to bring my spouse as soon as possible but is it possible that she lives with me and not to be sent to government places like campes. Or can you recommend some best ways to bring her even i do not have documents of Germany yet

Hello Sohail Miakhil, thank you for your question on our platform.
Unfortunately, whether or not you can bring your spouse to Germany depends, among other things, on the residency you have. We have made an overview of the requirements.
More family reunification information on the family reunification program for refugees here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/family-reunification
And for immigrants here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/family-reunification-for-immigrants
.
You mentioned that your spouse has a 10 year document in France, so it should be possible for her to visit you in Germany and she would have to double check if her residency allows her to also live and work in Germany.
.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to write to us again.

Thanks a million, ok when I get accepted in Germany and get my Id card of Germany when I want to bring my spouse here, will Germany give her the documents of Germany without going to any governmental places like campes? And what if I have a child with the passage of time?

If you fulfill the requirements of family reunification then your spouse will live with you and receive a residence according to family reunification. The same goes for your child. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you very much, after I get accepted in Germany when she want to live with me, is she being helped by the social or job center?

That depends on your status. If you are accepted as a refugee/asylum seeker or receive another protection status then your spouse will also get supported by the job center. If you hold another residency then you will have to proof that you have enough financial income and the job center will not provide any further assistance. Please read through the two link I have attached. They will give you a general overview of the family reunification process.

I searched but more information is when you bring you spouse from out of europe . Is there any specific link to state the regulation about a spouse who lives in europe like me

Hi Sohail Miakhil, apologies for the late reply. Even if your spouse is already in Europe, usually the same regulations apply for family reunion, as long as they are not EU citizens, as far as I know. There is an exception for example of your spouse as a so called EU permanent residence: https://handbookgermany.de/en/permanent-eu-residence-permit
If you let me know if you have further questions.
.
You can benefit from easier family reunification procedures if you are a recognized refugee.
You mentioned that you live in Altenstadt, it would be great if you can give me the post code so I can also look for a migration counseling center close to you, if needed.
